A machine jack gives operators the ability to elevate machinery or equipment into the air. Two commonly used jacks are the compact jack and the cylinder jack.
The compact jack is a bit wider than the cylinder jack, but the trade-off is that this machine jack is very versatile. The compact jack is a machine jack that comes equipped with a lifting toe.

The lifting toe is low profile which makes it easier to get beneath loads low to the ground. The toe of the machine jack does not have to be low to the ground initially. It can be raised to different starting positions. For example, if you are lifting a load which is a foot above ground, you can raise the initial start position to one foot as opposed to pumping the machine jack until the toe reaches one foot. Another versatility feature of the compact machine jack is that not only can you lift with its toe, lifting can also be done with the top loading plate. The top loading plate is located within the slide shoe of the machine jack and in front of the handle. The handle of this machine jack can be removed to provide the max exposure to the top loading plate. Cylinder jacks are another type of machine jack. They are used for lifting large loads in tight spaces. The cylinder jack does not have a large footprint and its toes are very low to the surface. Unlike the compact jack, the cylinder jack does not have a handle. This means that this machine jack must be controlled by either a manual pump or an electric pump. The connectors from the machine jack’s pump to the hoses are best if they are drip-free. Being drip-free reduces mess as well as accidental injury to the operator. Jacks are always the most efficient when they are used in a safe environment.
